Come and experience hand composition in the Parkside Print Room at Birmingham City University.
During the evening you will have a brief introductiory lecture on the history of type by Prof Caroline Archer, followed by a practical demonstration of hand-composition using metal type by senior technician Naomi Midgley. This will be followed by a hands-on session where you will be invited to compose and then print a pasage of text of your own choosing: the results of which you can take away with you - perhaps an ideal Christams gift? The print room is well equipped with both metal and wood type, and presses for all processes including letterpress - two 8x5 Adanas, an A3 galley press, two Soldan proofing presses and an Albion.
Reserve a place here.
The evening also includes wine and canapé.
This is event is limited to just 6 people, so early booking is advised.
