Tuesday 11 October 2016
Cadbury Research Library, University of Birmingham
2016 marks the 500th anniversary of the publication of Ludovico Ariosto’s Orlando Furioso. This 50,000-line epic poem of love, war and chivalry is one of the most significant texts of the European Renaissance whose influence can be seen in literature, music and the visual arts, from Milton to modern interpretations. To celebrate this anniversary, the Cadbury Research Library is hosting an evening of talks with an accompanying display.
SPEAKERS Caroline Archer-Parre, (Birmingham City University) Orlando in print; Deborah Hemsoll, (University of Birmingham) Orlando in Shakespeare's world; Martin Killeen, (Cadbury Research Library, University of Birmingham) Orlando illustrated
