Professor Stephen Hoskins, Director of the Centre for Fine Print Research at the University of the West of England, Bristol is recruiting for a full-time Associate Professor to be a member of his team. This post would suit an ambitious researcher who will work as a core part of the Centre’s leadership team, defining research from the practitioner perspective for the next generation of interdisciplinary researchers. The postholder will develop a portfolio of pure research funding bids for multi- and interdisciplinary research across the following key research themes:
1. Colour and 2.5D printing to build on the Centre for Fine Print Research’s international reputation in the field of computational colour science and physical alternatives to digital halftoning.
2. ‘3D printing’ including our patented research into 3D printed ceramics, this area has enormous potential to expand into related industrial disciplines, building on our international reputation in the discipline.
3. Printmaking beyond the surface – this theme covers our practice-led research and collaboration with international artists. Research into alternative photomechanical print methods is an integral part of this area.
With the support of senior staff the postholder will provide inspiration, leadership and strategic direction for the growth and reputational profile of the Centre for Fine Print Research’s portfolio of research, knowledge exchange, post-graduate teaching and scholarship through their developing contribution to our collective endeavours.
A Doctoral degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience, is an essential requirement and it is anticipated that the successful applicant will have high quality published outputs that reach an international audience and will be eligible for submission to the next REF.
