New Horizons in Shakespeare Studies

19-21 June 2025 | The Shakespeare Institute, Stratford-upon-Avon, UK

BritGrad is an interdisciplinary conference for postgraduate and early career researchers in Shakespeare and early modern studies. This fully-hybrid conference allows for delegates from around the world to attend in Stratford-upon-Avon or via Zoom to present their research.'New Horizons in Shakespeare Studies' encourages pushing the boundaries of how we analyze, interpret and use Shakespeare’s works and history to explore fresh perspectives or methodologies. For example, looking at his plays and poetry through contemporary lenses like postcolonialism, gender studies, or digital humanities. We are also interested in research that revisits lesser-known aspects of his life, reinterpreting his impact on modern storytelling, or making his work accessible in innovative ways to new audiences.

Proposals should relate to Shakespeare and/or early modern studies, and applications are welcome on a wide range of topics including but not limited to:  book history,  early modern literature and drama, theatre history, textual studies, biography, editing/adaptation, creative practice, cultural studies, pedagogy
