Matthew Boulton’s family Baskerville bible is a unique part of Birmingham’s history, a rare piece of typographic heritage, and an item of national significance which will remain in the City.
In January, it was announced the Boulton family bible, printed by John Baskerville in Cambridge in 1763, was placed for auction in London by the Birmingham Assay Office who had owned it since 1986. This film reveals how the money was raised to keep this important part of the city's heritage in Birmingham and freely accessible.
