Dr Hazel Wilkinson

Hazel Wilkinson is Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of Birmingham. She publishes on early modern and eighteenth-century literature, with a focus on book history and typography. Her first book, Edmund Spenser and the Eighteenth-Century Book won the Isabel MacCaffrey Award in 2020. She is the founder of Compositor, a database of a million eighteenth-century printers’ ornaments. She was awarded fellowship of the Alan Turing Centre for her work at the intersection of computer vision and typography studies. She is a member of the editorial team of the Oxford Edition of the Writings of Alexander Pope, and is also currently working on Henry Fielding, and The Spectator.
