Dr Maureen Bell

Maureen Bell is Honorary Reader in English Literature at the University of Birmingham. She is a member of the Print Networks Committee, Director of the British Book Trade Index, a member of the Editorial Board of the project Editing Aphra Behn in the Digital Age funded by the AHRC and serves on the CPHC Steering Group. She as a developing research interest is in the materiality of letter-writing across the British Empire in the period 1780-1830. Her first article on the subject, written with Elisabeth Parfitt and entitled ‘So wide a Gulph’: family letters across the seas in the early nineteenth century, (2016) appeared in an issue of Studies in Travel Writing.
